October 8th: The NEJM

If you have friends in healthcare, odds are you’ve seen this article posted. One of the foremost scientific journals in the world has posted an editorial about a political administration for the first time. This isn’t medicine getting political. Politics intruded on science, and this is what happens when science has to stand up and defend itself. I encourage you to read it. If you can’t see it, let me know and I can screenshot it for you. “Instead of relying on expertise, the administration has turned to uninformed ‘opinion leaders’ and charlatans who obscure the truth and facilitate the promulgation of outright lies.”

And further, the president just said, when asked to do a virtual debate to avoid infecting even more people when he should be isolating, that “I am not going to waste my time...” which further shows that he’s about grandstanding and popularity, not about facts and issues.

More than ever, we need to listen to science, and not politicians, regarding the battle against this virus and pandemic (any politicians, but the Republican Party is in power and is doing everything to go against science. Once again, they must be voted out of the Oval Office).
